We are a curious breed of Social Animals, we have reigned over Planet Earth for centuries now, I guess, but still when we compare ourselves with the species that have come and gone, we are still so immature. We have so much to learn, experience, feel and do.Segregation is one such lesson we have learned and are still learning. We have experienced love , hate and we have been loved and hated but still time and time again we have shown our immaturity as a collective, The Human Race.
What is race ? How does it feel to belong to one ? We talk about racial harmony and brotherhood of people but do we really the know the weight and worth of these words. I doubt we do ! We must count ourselves lucky that we have an all forgiving higher power, if there is one, but its true that we are a fortunate bunch. With all our follies, misgivings and fickle-mindedness, we still reign supreme in this world, or at-least we want to believe so. Segregation is a sensitive issue people say, most of us refrain from debating about it. Even some outright deny it ever existed but sadly its been present, going hand on hand with the civilizations that have proliferated and later on withered away to give way to new ones.
This piece of literature is not about glorifying one point of view nor is it about denouncing some other. It just a reflection of a common man having ordinary needs who sees and hears things as he lives his life as happily he can. The Bible says, if I am to quote it, " God made man in his own image " but it is really so, we as humans are so diverse and unique ,in habits, likes and dislikes that why the all mighty loves us so much, among the creatures that he has created. But sadly this differences and faults, that make us so unique, is seen as a tool for human segregation. Racial discrimination is the most talked about and widely discussed topic is each and every household in the world today. Some have fallen victims to it and some have intentionally and unintentionally have played a part in promoting it but segregation is not just limited to race. People weed people about for various reasons. We feel if someone is different than he is not right but we forget that, we ourselves are never alike. So, who are we to judge people when all of us are so different.
The segregation of the African-American people has always been the front-runner and most publicized case of discrimination but we do not need to look so far ahead of ourselves. In my country ,to which a billion people call there home, segregation is so rampant. From villages to so called sophisticated metropolitan cities, its rife like wildfire. Then you might question me why is it not so prominent ? Well my answer to that is, we are used to it, we have been conditioned to believe that it is a part of our culture. From the sleepy backwaters of my proud country to the majestic Himalayas, segregation and separation has been like a cancer that we neither can prevent nor can we cure. It is not like people have not tried to look for a remedy but sadly most of the citizens of my great nation are very much ignorant about it.
The purpose of this writing is not be preach but to wake people up so that they can realize ,reflect and question if is it correct or not. If an individual sits and starts questioning, the author would believe that this piece has done justice to the people who have long fought for equality and bled and died for it. They say charity beings at home but walking the talk is always so difficult to do. This author in question, just like the readers too, has played some part ,intentional or unintentional, in fostering segregation but one has to take a stand and say the buck stops here. We have to stop being indifferent to these things after all we are a social animal....

Part I
Life is so colorful people say, very vibrant, full of energy. It maybe be full of good ones or dirty ones but still its colorful, people say but the I more exist in this world those colors seem to dull away, like fade in the mist or get washed in the rain. Why so I ask myself.. why do I see everything in black and white, I too wanna see the pomp and grandeur that life is .. but alas.. its in vain.... I fail to grasp the meaning of this dull -grey- view of life.... I feel I am worse off then PIP. poor PIP having to name himself, so... then here I am in this black and white world sitting in on of the CCDs, of the millions in this poor town, then i remember "lynyrd skynyrd" and their "The Ballad of Curtis Loew".... then i see that this black and white world should not be shunned but embraced.... with your heart and soul.... !!!!!!
